Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society get the new season of Electric Palace Cinema films under way at at the Hippodrome Theatre, Halifax Road, Todmorden, on Saturday (September 13).

The afternoon offering is the smash-hit Disney animated children’s film Frozen, which as well as being a toe-tappingly rousing musical is a great story of sisterly love between Elsa and Anna where the Prince isn’t quite who we thought he was.

The most important thing though is that this is the Sing-Along version and small children and their parents are positively encouraged to come along and sing out loud to their favorite songs!

The evening film is “ The Book Thief”, set in World War II Germany. Young Liesel, a refugee taught to read by her kind-hearted foster father, begins “borrowing” books and sharing them with the Jewish boy being sheltered by her foster parents in the basement of their home. Her obsession with books continues throughout the dangers of life under the Nazi regime.
