It was a weekend of celebration and commiseration at Hebden Bridge Golf Club.
The Rabbits section had a night out on Saturday following their victories in the trophy matches against Todmorden and Ryburn and promotion in the Rabbits League.
Whilst the older members of the club, including captain Ray Tighe, confined their celebrations to Hebden Bridge, the younger members compl eted their evening in Halifax.
Some of the knockout finals were played on Sunday and the previous night’s celebrations didn’t effect Charles Bamford, who partnered Jan Cox to beat Jonathon Cockcroft and Neeve Fisher 2 & 1 after a battle royale to win the Mixed Greensome Trophy.
Congratulations were also due to Lee Amos and Jonathon Sutcliffe, who beat George Bamford and Joe Gibson 60-59 in a hard fought Open Four Ball Championship.
This was a second victory for Sutcliffe, who had beaten Richard Pickles on the last hole in the Stanley Greenwood Singles final.
The club is now gearing up for Ashley Hewitt’s 50th birthday golf day on Friday followed by a party and more knockout finals over the weekend.
The ladies’ annual trip to the Dales was a success and the Angela Pearson Trophy was won by Lorraine Boulton.
