Mytholmroyd boosted their chances of two pieces of silverware in the space of three days this week.

The seconds are through to the Crossley Shield final against Warley at Old Crossleyans on Sunday, August 17.

They beat division-higher Jer Lane by six wickets away last Sunday.

Matt Bauer and Dan Murgatroyd took three wickets each but Lane, 70 for five at one stage, rallied to 173 all out.

Luke Sutcliffe made 86 not out at the top of the Mytholmroyd order and shared stands of 98 with Tom Russell (46) for second wicket and 51 with Murgatroyd (18) for the fourth.

Mytholmroyd are also in the final four to take part in the Foster’s Halifax League’s Twenty/20 finals day at SBCI on Sunday, July 27.

They will face Calder Valley rivals Booth in one semi-final with Southowram taking on Copley in the other.

Mytholmroyd completed victory over holders Thornton on Tuesday. ‘Royd made 236 last week and Thornton were limited to 178 for five when the game resumed.

Booth beat Jer Lane, last season’s Parish Cup final conquerors. Lane made 153 all out and Booth 155 for three.

Second team swing bowler Jon Midgley has been Booth’s trump card with the ball in the T/20 and he took four wickets.

Jordan Laban and Paul Chapman gave Lane a decent start and Raqeeb Younas and Jason Gelder also made around 30.

Chris Shannon was out to the first ball of Booth’s reply but Rob Laycock made 50 retired and Patrick Thomas, Richard Laycock and Jack Heptonstall helped knock off the runs in 12 overs.
