Featherstone Rovers, Halifax’s rivals for the crucial fourth place in the Kingstone Press Championship, have announced the departure of head coach Andy Hay following Sunday’s loss to Dewsbury.
A statement from the club suggested Hay, the former Leeds forward, had left after a difference of a opinion with chairman Mark Campbell.
The development comes with Rovers still in contention for promotion.
The 32-30 loss to the Rams at the Big Fella’s Stadium ended a run of four consecutive victories but left them outside the crucial top four places on points difference.
In-form Halifax went above them following Sunday’s fine 38-10 win over Sheffield Eagles.
Featherstone still have three regular season games remaining, although two of them are tricky trips to sides above them in Leigh and Sheffield.
The statement read: “Featherstone Rovers Chairman Mark Campbell and Andy Hay have been unable to agree on circumstances surrounding the club’s recent form, which has led to these new developments.
“Featherstone Rovers will not make any further comment at this time.”
