Heath rally to snatch draw

Alex McFadden, Ezra Hinchliffe and Fergus Marsden were missing and replaced by Matt Baxendale, Olly Cook and Rondene Johnson with Emlyn James on the bench, as coach Dave Harrison shuffled his options.

In good conditions, the visitors took the lead with a sixth minute penalty from Harrison, who was unsuccessful with a second attempt on 12 minutes.

It was all Scarborough with Heath in some disarray and they increased their lead to 10-0 on 16 minutes with a converted try from a quickly-taken penalty.

Heath responded through their backs with wingmen Callum Harriet-Brown and Matt Baxendale plus centres Jack Sheldrake and Ben Hinsley all involved.

However, the visitors continued to dominate with good, open rugby and with Heath missing their tackles and struggling in the lineout.

It was no surprise when a second try came on 35 minutes.

The visitors had lock Mikey Readman sin-binned for tripping and Heath almost got to the try line but the referee blew for half time.

Heath were all fired up at the re-start but were unable to make forward pressure tell. Then Harriet-Brown was bundled into touch on the try line on 50 minutes.

Four minutes later, another Scarborough man was sin-binned and, following a lineout, Hughes scored and Jack Crabtree converted from wide out to make it 7–15.

Heath were now winning line-out ball and playing with confidence. Baxendale chased down a brilliant kick from Sales, scoring a great try and touching down near the posts for Crabtree’s kick to make it 14-15.

A Crabtree penalty gave Heath the lead for the first time on 66 minutes but they were caught napping at the restart and Scarborough waltzed over for an unconverted try.

A Crabtree penalty with four minutes left tied the scores and Heath were still attacking in injury time when an attempted drop goal fell short.
