Northowram’s sloping pitch has caught many a side out over the years and the home side chose to play uphill in the first half.
After 10 minutes Hebden Royd United Ladies thought they had chosen right when a corner ball evaded defenders and fell to the unmarked back player, Smith, who made no mistake from close range.
Hebden began their passing game and chances fell to both forwards Payne and Lockwood but their shots were off target.
Sam Billington at centre back strode forward and fed the ball to Rebecca Payne who then went one on one with the keeper and made the score level at 1-1 after 25 minutes.
Hebden had most of the possession in the first half and keeper Paula Statham was rarely troubled.
Northowram know their pitch to an advantage and play it well.
Statham’s hands were kept warm and she made a double save after 60 minutes.
Thirty minutes into the second half and after sustained pressure by Hebden they found the net through Sinead Rice but she was adjudged to be offside.
Goal efforts by Northowram were thwarted by Sam Lockwood and Statham and Rebecca Paye for Hebden had three chances from close range but found the wrong side of the woodwork on each attempt.
Next week Hebden Royd travel again to Silsden and that is followed by three home games at Luddenden Foot.
