The Shaymen put in another encouraging performance against another tough side, coming out with their third draw in a row.

Wild said his side got better as the game went on, but says they need to improve their final shot or pass and start turning draws into wins.

"I thought we were off it first-half, half a yard off it, we never won a second ball, we never won a first ball, we passed too square," he said.

"I know the pitch was sticky but it's no excuse, we should pass the ball better, we should land on seconds better, we should compete better.

"At half-time it was the first time I've had to have a go at them, it wasn't good enough.

"I thought second-half we were on the front foot, much better as a team.

"We limited them just to breakaway attacks on the counter, by our poor decision-making. Every chance they seemed to get was from our poor decisions.

"We never looked like conceding, apart from the one we cleared off the line. That' what's really pleasing, we've kept three clean sheets out of five games.

"In the first two-thirds of the pitch we look a threat, we look a really good side in that final third, we just lack quality at the moment and a cutting edge.

"Jamie Allen's been excellent, his endeavour's been excellent and gold and Gevaro are trying to catch up fitness-wise.

"Hydey came off the bench and you're hoping he's going to have a little bit of magic, but he's only trained one day so he looked rusty. It is what it is.

"We don't look a pushover. Sometimes last year we looked like we could collapse but we don't this year, which is great.

"It's a solid foundation. Would we have liked more points? Yes, but I think we look solid at the moment, we've just got to get that final third right.

"That's what we're working hard on, we're hoping to get our forwards fitter and sharper and start taking our chances, because we're getting in the areas time after time after time, we're looking quality when we get into those areas, but our final shot or pass is what's not turning draws into wins at the moment."

Town have come out undefeated against Boreham Wood, Yeovil and Woking, giving Wild plenty of encouragement that his team can compete against the stronger clubs in the division.

"We can hold our own with anybody in this league, that's clear for everybody to see," he said.

"We just need to have that better quality in the final third and we'll start putting teams to the sword.

"But it's a long season, there's a lot of games to go. We've only been beaten once, we've had three clean sheets, so there's a lot of positives, for a new team that's come together.

"We just now need to find that last little bit and start putting teams away, and I'm hoping with the return of my centre-forwards that we'll start doing that."

Wild made four changes for the game, with Niall Maher, Martin Woods, Jack Earing and Gevaro Nepomuceno all coming into his team.

"I just wanted to freshen it up. I don't think anybody deserved leaving out but I wanted to give people a chance," he said.

"I don't want people feeling like they're left out of the group. I feel like I've got a group here that, whoever I drop in can do a job for me, and I want to have that mentality.

"We've had a lot of games in a short space of time and it's important I utilise my squad."

On striker Gold Omotayo, who was not involved in the matchday squad, Wild said: "He's still part of our plans. He was thrown in after very little pre-season and no games.

"He just needs time now to catch up in terms of technical and physical pre-season.

"We've had a good conversation with him and we just need to catch him up now we're starting to get players back."

Forward Jake Hyde came off the bench to make his debut for The Shaymen against his former club.

"Yeah, it's great to have him back around the group," said Wild.

"We know what quality he's got, we just need to be patient with him and make sure we get him back up to the levels so that he's robust enough to fulfil a full season.

"He's had an early setback so we don't want another one, so we just need to be patient with him and make sure he's right moving forward."

On injured duo Matty Stenson and Reubden Noble-Lazarus, Wild said: "Matty's probably got another week or two of rehab but he's back out on the grass running, which is pleasing, and he's progressing nicely.

"Reuben is just trying to get over that last little bit. A couple of times when he's been passing the ball he's still felt sore so we need to make sure we get that right, because he's been out for a long time."
