Sunday League matches off

All today’s games in the Ziggy’s Metro Cars Halifax Sunday League have been postponed after yesterday’s torrential rain.

League officials took the decision last night in an effort to protect pitches and save players a wasted journey.

The only matches they could not call off were those involving local teams in the West Riding Sunday Cup and Trophy.

Only one game took place yesterday in the Haslem Sheppard Halifax AFL.

Halifax Irish Centre must have wished the game on the 3G pitch at Trinity Academy was off because they lost 16-1 to Division One title hopefuls Illingworth St Mary’s.

A third Halifax AFL side, Warley Rangers, were in action in the West Riding Challenge Cup. They went down 7-2 at Hartshead.
