Shaymen need to deliver

With a trip to champions-in-waiting on the agenda this Saturday, FC Halifax Town head to bottom club Kidderminster Harriers tonight knowing the pressure is on to deliver.

Following the weekend home defeat to Aldershot, the Shaymen sit two points clear of the dropzone.

A point will be enough to take Jim Harvey’s men above Guiseley but the FA Trophy finalists really need all three against a team that kept their own slim survival hopes alive last Saturday with a 2-1 win at Welling United.

Halifax have little margin for error tonight due to this weekend bringing a trip to leaders Cheltenham Town, who could clinch promotion back to The Football League.

Cheltenham have lost just one of 21 home games this season and sit top on 92 points, six clear of Forest Green Rovers with three games remaining.

Harvey is in defiant mood despite the loss to Aldershot, adding: “Of course we can get out of it. We just need a couple of results from these final five games.”

Two of Town’s rivals in the relegation scrap meet tonight at Plainmoor, as Torquay United host Altrincham.
