Hollins Holme suffered a fourth defeat of the season in the Halifax Sunday League’s top flight when beaten 3-1 away to Waiters Arms last weekend.
They slipped three points behind leaders and champions-elect Carrington, who crushed third-placed Lee Mount 9-2.
Both Hollins and their hosts on the 3G pitch at Trinity Academy were without key men and the contest was far from a classic.
Hollins went ahead from a corner when Jordan Dean flicked the ball on and Ryan Stansfield volleyed home to give them the advantage at the break.
Lee Wood finished smartly past Chris Garbutt early in the second half and Wood soon made it 2-1.
Waiters made the game safe in the last five minutes when Wood flicked on a long Dean Park throw in and Fenton ghosted in at the back post to flick neatly past the keeper.
There was still time for the miss of the game when Hollins player boss Joel Booth rounded Waiters ‘keeper Joe Casey, only to slip in the mud with the goal gaping.
Hollins are at home to fourth-placed Old Pond on Sunday while Royd Club are without a game, having had their Division One match away to Mount Tabor postponed last weekend.
