Harrogate 0-2 FC Halifax Town: Fans Panel verdict
Andrew Mann
Man of the match
Scott Garner a rock again at the back. Looks so assured and comfortable, won every header, great no nonsense game, becoming a firm fan favourite.
Moment of the match
Has to be Jake Hibbs capitalising on suspect goal-keeping on the halfway line before curling a left footed shot into the net from his own half to finish the game off.

Hide AdHearing about and seeing some trouble in the away end. Great following from Town, shame some people give the club a bad name.

Could have been Garner or Wilde, but I’ll give it Jordan Sinnott. A lot of our tidiest football comes from him, and he was responsible for our first goal (whether it’s credited to him or not)!
Moment of the match
It’s close..... Ainge sent off within seconds of being announced as Harrogate’s man of the match. Or maybe it involves Jake Hibbs and the halfway line...?
Moan of the match
Richard Peniket still hasn’t learned that “shots off target” very rarely lead to goals. Also, Harrogate’s announcer and Town’s website match reporter – neither of whom managed to identify Simon Ainge as the Harrogate number 6.

Hide AdJake Hibbbs - he didn’t come on the pitch until late in the game but gave it everything for the cause when he came on. He may have scored a very late second goal from his own half but more importantly his full commitment stopped Harrogate from getting back into the game.
Moment of the match
69th minute - Jordan Sinnott scored the opening goal then moments later the deflated Harrogate Town stadium announcer tell us all its just a “deflected” goal. Never mind, they all count!
Moan of the match
Why did it take so long to take the lead? Harrogate were rubbish, their best chance was a diving header towards his own goal from Scott Garner. Good save by Drench. How did Peniket miss the target with all the time on the world in the 46th minute.

Scott Garner worked tirelessly to make sure we kept a clean sheet.

Hide AdJake Hibbs’ long range goal was excellent judgement on his part. I think with this and his work rate after coming on he’ll certainly be giving Billy food for thought. He deserves to start next match in my opinion.

If watching from a distance you’d have been forgiven for thinking this was a mass tennis match, the ball was in the air far too much. It wasn’t pretty to watch or particularly effective for most of the game.
