Brighouse Town were unable to prevent Warrington Town going nine points clear at the top of the Evo Stik Northern Premier League’s First Division North last night.
The Cheshire side won 2-0 at Hove Edge to make it an unhappy return to action for Paul Quinn’s side after a 16-day weather-enforced break.
Both goals came in the second half, Ciaran Kilheeney opening the scoring two minutes after the break and Joseph Holt sealing victory with a fine finish seven minutes from time.
Ryan Hall looked threatening for Town while Ernest Boafo had a header cleared off the line with 11 minutes left.
Town, who had lost at 2-1 at Lancaster City in their previous outing, are 10th in the table. They travel to fifth-placed Burscough on Saturday.
