Three cricket clubs - Bridgeholme, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden - will each receive £5,000.

Bridgeholme has flooded regularly in recent years and tested the spirit of Keith Hudson and club members who have battled back each time.

Water didn’t get into the pavilion at Mytholmroyd, which has been accommodating other community groups, but the pitch’s drains are in urgent need of attention.

Todmorden’s pitch was also flooded and water got into some of the outbuildings at Centre Vale on Boxing Day.

Luddenden Foot Bowling Club is to get £5,378 to help rectify damage caused to its clubhouse while Mytholmroyd Community Association is to receive £5,000.

The cash is coming from Sport England’s Emergency Flood Relief Fund to help restore pitches and repair community sports facilities damaged by the rising water.

Sport England has invested £610,065 in the Calder Valley since 2010.

Local MP Craig Whittaker said: ‘This is a welcome boost for both the clubs concerned and the wider community who benefit from these facilities.

“It is going to take many sports clubs across the Calder Valley an awful long time to repair their facilities and get back to normal.”
