With tighter coronavirus restrictions in place across the UK, McDonald’s has announced that its restaurants are now closed for both dine in and takeaway services.

However, the fast food chain will still be open for drive through and delivery meals. Customers will not be able to walk in to buy takeaway food.

Click & Serve throughout the My McDonald’s app will also be available from drive through restaurants.

Which restaurants will be closed for takeaways?

McDonald’s said on Twitter: “Following the government announcements, we are pleased to remain open, but with a few changes.

“Dine-in and Walk-in takeaway service will be temporarily closed in all restaurants from 11pm tonight while we review and verify any additional advance safety measures for these services.”

The chain also noted that, with smaller teams and social distancing measures in place in its kitchens, it will take longer to serve customers.

McDonald’s thanked customers for their “kindness and patience”, explaining that staff are “working incredibly hard in difficult circumstances”.

It’s not yet known when walk in services will begin again, but McDonald’s said they will keep customers updated on any changes through their website and social media channels.
