WATCH: The shocking video of a filthy Calderdale back alley
A road splitting residences in King Cross between St Pauls Road and Wilson Street was swamped in waste, with neighbours complaining of issues with rats.
Michael Fawcett, a resident on St Pauls Road, said that the mess was disgusting.

Hide AdHe said: "It's been a complete mess for a while now and something has needed doing.
"It's disgusting and residents around here need to look after their waste at the end of the day. I go to the tip at my own cost twice a month."
Calderdale Council’s Assistant Director for Neighbourhoods, Andrew Pitts, said:
“As soon as this was brought to our attention, we cleared a large amount of waste from a back street location in the King Cross area of Halifax on Tuesday afternoon. It’s clearly unacceptable that the street was left in this condition and so our first priority was to deal with this

Hide Ad“However, there remains a large amount of rubbish and waste materials in the private yards adjoining the street and our next step will be for our Community Safety Wardens to visit the premises and ask the owners to remove the material as soon as possible.
“We will also inform the residents that if this is not done within a reasonable timescale, then the Council will not hesitate to take enforcement action as we will not tolerate this type of eyesore and blight in our communities.”
