UPDATE: Man died after vehicle collapsed on top of him

Police, paramedics and fire crews from Rastrick and Cleckheaton stations were called to Huddersfield Road, Birghouse at around 12.45pm this afternoon.

Watch commander Alex Macfarlane of Rastrick fire station said: “He had been working on the engine and the vehicle collapsed on top of him.”

The man was freed, given CPR and taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

But he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of death but it is not believed to be suspicious.
