Time for a dirty weekend

The big clean-up
The big clean-up

Residents are being given the chance to get their hands dirty this weekend.

As part of Hebden Royd Town Council’s annual big spring clean, Calder Future is overseeing events aimed at making the area cleaner and greener, while improving its flood resilience.

On Saturday, the Friends of Nutclough Woods are cleaning up Nutclough Woods in Hebden Bridge. Meet Gavin Roberts at the entrance to the woods on Keighley Road at 10.30am. Bring a packed lunch if you plan to stay for the whole day (3pm to 4pm finish).

On Sunday, there will be a river stewardship activity on the River Calder at Mytholmroyd. It will run from 10am to 1pm. Meet on the grassed slipway access to the riverbank, opposite the Co-op on Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd. Strong boots or wellies are advised, while tools and gloves will be provided.

There will also be a cleaning of the Rochdale Canal in Mytholmroyd between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday.
