Rugby legend Paddy Reid dies aged 91

Former Halifax rugby player and Irish international Paddy Reid has died at the age of 91.

Mr Reid was a member of Ireland’s 1948 rugby union Grand Slam-winning team and later moved to West Yorkshire to play rugby league, playing for both Halifax and Huddersfield.

He won four caps with Ireland at outside centre and was part of the Halifax team that reached the Challenge Cup final, losing at Wembley to Bradford.

He died yesterday (Friday) in Limerick.
