Police were called by the fire service to Blue Ball Road, Ripponden at about 11.13am today to a report of a car on fire by the side of the road.
Emergency services attended and found a fire damaged car at the scene.
Local road closures are currently in place and initial enquiries are ongoing by detectives to determine the circumstances.
