After their winter break, the Mytholmroyd Methodist Ladies Club met at their new venue, the Church of the Good Shepherd.
The speaker, Dave Manning, gave an interesting informal talk on “Life As A Firefighter”, writes Evelyn Graham.
He spoke of various experiences as a fireman, including the time when they were called to rescue a cow from the roof of a building, or the occasion when they rescued a woman in a state of undress from an upstairs window.
He recommended that everyone should have smoke alarms, which are freely available from Mytholmroyd and other fire stations.
Mrs Sylvia Hartley presided and thanked the speaker.
The next meeting is on Tuesday April 7 when Joan Laprell will give a talk entitled “Bits and Pieces”.
New members are welcome.
