Record breakers make a splash

Pupils from Hipperholme Grammar School have enjoyed record breaking success representing the region as part of a national swimming competition.

Senior school students Lia Brehmer, Charles Kershaw and Myles Stirk joined the Independent Schools Association (ISA) North swimming team at the Olympic Pool in London to take home a variety of medals.

Myles Stirk, 16, took home a gold medal in the 100m backstroke as well as setting a new national record time. He was also part of the individual medley team alongside three other ISA North swimmers who won gold and broke the national record for the event.

Thirteen year old Charles Kershaw was awarded a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke, and also scooped a second bronze as part of the individual medley relay team.

Lia Brehmer also beat her personal best in the 50m butterfly event.
