The application was submitted by Browns (Precision Engineers) Christchurch Ltd and concerned access to the site from an existing gated entrance on Cricketers Fold.

Three previous applications for developments on the site have been refused but the current application has seen the size of the site significantly reduce.

Although the number of housing wasn’t considered as part of this application, Coun Carol Machell asked the agent if the number of houses planned for the site was the same even after the size of the site had been significantly reduced.

The agent explained that the previous application was for 37 houses was originally planned and would have “covered the whole of the site”.

This has been reduced to nine to address a protected species issue on the land.
