Slack Top Alpine Nursery has scooped a premier gold medal for an alpine display at its tenth consecutive Harrogate Spring Flower Show last week.

The Hebden Bridge nursery displayed a mix of stone and painted wooden containers filled with Narcissus rupicola, Pulsatilla “Papageno”, small primulas such as “Slack Top Violet”, “Aire Mist” and “Blairside Yellow”, and saxifraga including S. grisebachii and S. sempervivum.

Michael Mitchell, owner of the nursery, said: “We’re really chuffed to have won a premier gold as it is the highest award that is presented at the show.

“It was particularly challenging this year to produce a good display as the weather has been so cold and dull but things came together just in time. As our customers always say ‘If it grows at Slack Top, it will grow anywhere’.

“Thanks to everyone who came to support us - hope you all had a lovely time.”

The nursery is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm. Call 01422 845348 or visit for more details.
