Cool canines were on parade in Hebden Bridge’s very own fashion show as they vyed for the coveted ‘Vivienne Westwoof’ award.

From a Lurcher dressed as a gangster rapper to a Chihuahua called Dave dressed as the Pope, the couture and often wacky outfits gave the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan and New York a run for their money.

The event, masterminded by dog walkers Catherine Plane, who runs Diamond Dogs and Rachel Jones, who runs Dotty for Dogs, raised a fantastic £950 for those affected by the devastating Boxing Day floods.

The parade was quite the spectacle, as people paws-ed for thought to see the posh pooches make their way from Hebden Bridge to Hardcastle Crags in their finery.

Catherine said: “It was absolutely brilliant and lots of people came along to make it a really well supported event.

“It was a really good laugh and a nice to raise some cash for a great cause.”

The winner of the aptly named Vivienne Westwoof award went to Mitzie the Labradoodle who looked adorable in her frilly pink, sparkly dress.

Scores of other awards were also presented to the dogs and owners who pushed the boundaries of fashion to create eye-catching creations.
