Leslie back to re-open store
THE Co-op invited one of its oldest former workers to re-open the Mytholmroyd store after a revamp.
Leslie Greenwood, now in his late 80s, first joined the Co-operative in 1936 in Mytholmroyd.
With store manager Janet Bentley and another long-serving member and store supervisor Clive Gregory - who has served 45 years - he cut the ribbon. Regional managers also attended and customers were encouraged to sample a range of Fair Trade products.
Mrs Bentley said: “We operate in the heart of the community and it’s important we continue to meet people’s needs and provide a welcoming environment in which to shop.
“Upgrading the store will freshen up the shopping experience and improve the vitality of Mytholmroyd, and I look forward to welcoming customers into the new-look store.”
