Fancy a challenge which could see you grappling with aliens, directing a Red Arrow ‘flypast’ or helping a flock of birds take to the skies?

If so, the organisers of the Handmade Parade would like to hear from you.

This year’s parade ‘Come Fly With Us!’ will blaze a trail through Hebden Bridge on Sunday June 7 and organisers are appealing for volunteers to make the day an even bigger success.

They are particularly keen to hear from sports teams and community groups who would like to put their teamwork skills to good use.

Jude Wadley, Handmade Parade event producer and outreach co-ordinator, said: “Volunteering for the Handmade Parade is a fantastic experience and it would be great to get a sports team or walking group helping out.

“We need volunteers to steward on the day between 10am and 2pm. You might be carrying parade art or simply ensuring everyone stays safe. We also need volunteers to help out at parade workshops, work behind the scenes to help the lead artists create fabulous parade art and help with setting up in the park and clearing up after the parade.

“Everyone can be sure of a warm welcome and the chance to be part of one of the best days in Hebden Bridge’s calendar.”

The parade will set off at noon from the Handmade Parade workshops in Victoria Road and head down Valley Road, through St George’s Square and Bridge Gate to finish in Calder Holmes Park, where there will be entertainment and food stalls from local vendors.

Organisers are looking for food vendors who have a 4 or 5 food hygiene rating and produce or promote tasty locally produced food and drink. For more info email Kate volunteer@handmadeparade.co.uk
