Leeds man killed in stolen car crash named by police

Police have released the name of a man who died following a road traffic collision in Leeds involving a stolen car.

Luke Goodyear, aged 23, from Leeds, was the passenger in a silver Toyota Aygo which collided with a tree in North Park Avenue, Roundhay, at about 3.45pm on Saturday September 20. The driver left the scene.

The Toyota, registration CA06 RKJ , had been stolen in a robbery in Harehills on August 11.

Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident. A 17-year-old youth and a 56-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Two men, aged 23 and 24, arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving have been released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Dunkerley, of West Yorkshire Police Protective Services Crime, said: “Our investigation into the incident is ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision itself or the circumstances leading up to it or who saw the driver leaving the scene. We would also like to hear from anyone who has any information about where the Toyota Aygo has been since it was stolen.”
