GP practices and other health services often face criticism over ways they offer their service, but one Hebden Bridge resident said their response could not have been better recently.
Matthew Higgs said the NHS service offered had been second-to-none.
Matthew explained: “Having felt really pretty dreadful over the weekend with quite bad ‘flu type symptoms, I visited the Valley Road medical practice on Monday, where I am a patient.
“At 5.25pm I made a visit to Hebden Boots chemist to buy some cough mixture and the chemist suggested I go the the G.P.
“At 5.30pm It put a call into Valley Road practice to ask on the off-chance if there are any appointments this week.
“The very helpful receptionist tells me there is a cancellation at Mytholmroyd if I can get there in 10 minutes.
“By 5.40pm I arrive at Mythhomroyd and am seen within 10 minutes. GP examines me, agrees I’m quite poorly and prescribes some antibiotics.
“At 6pm back to Boots in Hebden for my prescription - and 6.10 home.
“Who says the NHS/GP service is rubbish? Not me.”
