The event takes place on Monday, September 28 and has been timed before most sixth form or college open evenings take place, so young people can see what is available across Calderdale and get thinking about what they might want to do when they leave school.

There will be lots of information and advice available, including presentations from local careers advisors C&K Careers, as well as providers and employers.

C&K Careers Advisors and teams from Calderdale Council will also be available to provide support and information on money, benefits, transport, special educational needs and disability support.

Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for children and young people’s services, Coun Megan Swift, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people and their families to find out all about the options available to them across Calderdale and the wider area. The event will be of benefit to all year 11 school leavers in 2016, giving them information and inspiration about what they’d like to do in their future careers.

“Young people and their families can drop into the Shay to talk to a whole range of organisations about their post-Year 11 options and take advantage of the advice.”

The event is at the Shay stadium between 3pm and 7.30pm.
