Festive funding for village

Festive lighting will be decorating Bailiff Bridge for the first time to support businesses and the community.

Councillor David Kirton (Hipp/Light, Con) has been successful in applying for a £1,000 grant from the Calderdale Council Economic Fighting Fund.

“I am really pleased for the local community that I have been successful in obtaining this funding for them. It is a first for Bailiff Bridge and will complement the Christmas tree lighting in the memorial park,” Coun Kirton said.

Pav Sohal, of Bailiff Bridge Fisheries, said: “I am really pleased and this would draw more attention to the village.”

Nick Legerove, of The Brunch, added: “It will brighten up the village and he is hopeful the lighting initiative will attract more customers to the local shops.”

Resident Chairman for Bailiff Bridge, Malcolm Silkstone, said: “I am delighted. This is a first for Bailiff Bridge and I thank Councillor Kirton and Calderdale Council for promoting and supporting this new initiative.”
