It’s thought the woman, in her 90s, had fallen out of bed and got her arm trapped in the metal frame.

Carers visiting her home found her and raised the alarm. Paramedics at the house called on firefighters to help release the woman.

Firefighters supported the woman and managed to free her arm without using equipment. She was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital by ambulance.

Crews were later called to Shade School, Todmorden, to reports of a 6-year-old girl who was trapped behind a radiator pipe.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said that the young girl had fallen on to her knee, which had become trapped between a wall and old-fashioned radiator pipe.

Crews used an electric spreader to free the girl’s leg, but she did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
