Woman robbed at knifepoint in Huddersfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed at knifepoint in Huddersfield yesterday morning (Wednesday).

Huddersfield CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident which took place at about 2.20am on Trinity Street.

It took place after the victim, a 27-year-old woman, and a friend were approached by a man as they were walking home. He threatened them while holding a shiny object which may have been a knife and demanded cash.

He then grabbed at the pockets of the victim, causing the 27-year-old to hand over an amount of money while her female friend attempted to flag down a passing car.

At this point the suspect fled leaving both women unhurt but shaken.

The suspect is described as white, around 25-years-old and very slim. He had very slight stubble, a distinctive gaunt face, and spoke with a local accent.

He was also wearing a black jacket with the hood up and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

Det Const Andy Clayton of Huddersfield CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this robbery and would like to speak to anyone who saw the offence or may be able to identify the suspect.

“I am also keen to speak with the driver of the white car which the victim’s friend attempted to flag down, as it is possible the driver may well have witnessed the offence.”
