Trial date set for alleged murderers of Drummer Lee Rigby

Two men accused of murdering Drummer Lee Rigby will face trial in November.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, appeared via video link from Belmarsh high security prison, speaking only to confirm their names and flanked by prison officers.

Drummer Rigby, who was married in Southowram, died outside Woolwich barracks in south east London on May 22.

Adebolajo, from Romford, Essex, wants to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza during the proceedings.

He is also accused of the attempted murder of two police officers and possession of a firearm with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.

Adebowale, from Greenwich, is also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.

They were remanded in custody to appear for a plea and case management hearing at the same court on September 27.

A trial date has been set for November 18.
