Teacher and teaching assistant appear in court charged with assault and ill treatment of child in Halifax school

Two women - a teacher and a teaching assistant - have appeared in court charged with the assault, ill treatment, neglect and abandonment of a child at a Halifax school.

Debra Macdonald, 40, of Birks Hall Terrace, Halifax, and Rachel Louise Regan,43, of Cousin Lane, Illingworth, appeared before Calderdale Magistrates’ this morning (Wednesday).

The charges relate to a number of incidents that allegedly took place at the school between September 1, 2012 and January 26, 2013.

Both women have denied the charges and were granted unconditional bail.

The case has been adjourned to Bradford Crown Court for Wednesday, May 21.
