Sea search for missing 12-year-old boy Isaac Nash

North Wales Police and the Coastguard resumed their search yesterday as four land crews and two lifeboats were launched and continue to search the area whilst being supported by the police helicopter.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: “Officers have been patrolling the shoreline, along with family members and local volunteers wishing to help.

“Further specialist support from the police underwater search team will provide assistance.

“Isaac, who is from the Huddersfield area, was on holiday with his family at the time of the incident.”

A shoreline search was carried out in darkness in the Welsh holiday resort of Aberffraw after coastguard and helicopter crews looking for the youngster were stood down on Friday evening.

The alarm was raised at around 12.30pm on Friday, when an initial 999 call reported three people, were stuck on rocks in the estuary.

It is understood that initially two boys had been playing in the water when they got into difficulty in rough seas and relatives had tried to rescue them.

Those involved in the first stages of the search had described visibility as “horrendous”.

Anglesey coastguard manager Dave Brewer said it was understood the father of one of the boys managed to grab him while the grandfather tried to grab the other child.

He said: “The grandfather went in to rescue the other lad and a wave swept over. He managed to grab the rocks but lost grip of the child that is missing.”
