Police issue appeal after sexual assault in Bradford

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of a sexual assault in Bradford.

Bradford District CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident, which is believed to have taken place at about 9pm on Otley Road at the junction with Barmby Road yesterday evening (Friday, February 7) while the victim, a 48-year-old woman, was walking to work on the road near to the cemetery.

As she walked near to the junction she was grabbed from behind by a man and assaulted.

It is believed he was startled by a passing man - who police say they particularly want to speak to- and the victim then broke free and ran home.

Detective Inspector Stuart Lyons of Bradford District CID, said: “We are investigating a report of a sexual assault on Otley Road last night and would like to speak with anyone who saw what took place.

“We are particularly keen to speak to a man reported to be passing by at the time of this incident who may well have disturbed the attacker.

“This man, or anyone who has information should contact Bradford District CID on 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.”

The female victim is being cared for by specially trained officers today as police enquiries continue at the scene near Barmby Road.
