A Hebden Bridge man who went on a JCB rampage at Todmorden tip which caused up to £400,000 worth of damage has been jailed for three years.

Trevor Lewis, of Station Road, Mayroyd, appeared in front of a judge at Bradford Crown Court this afternoon.

He had previously admitted to a charge of criminal damage in relation to an incident at the Eastwood Recycling Centre on Saturday, July 19.

Without lawful excuse, Lewis, 59, who worked for site contractor SITA UK, damaged and destroyed property belonging to Calderdale Council at the site to the value of up to £400,000 in a “systematic” rampage.

The recycling centre will be closed until at least November as repair works are carried out.
