Attempted Bradford street robbery on young woman

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Bradford.

At about 2pm on Wednesday, October 15, a 21-year-old woman was walking along Sunbridge Road, when a man attempted to engage her in conversation.

The man then made demands for the woman’s property and put his hand over his victim’s mouth to prevent her from screaming.

There was an altercation and the woman managed to scream for help.

The suspect ran off towards Sackville Street empty-handed.

The victim was unhurt, but shaken by the incident.

The suspect is described as white, about 6ft tall, of slim build and is believed to be in his 20s.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with jeans or tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Inspector Richard Partis, of Bradford District CID, said: “There were a lot of people in the Sunbridge Road area at that time of day and it is very likely that someone will have witnessed this incident or seen the suspect as he fled.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 1926 McFarlane at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
