With the recent launch of the Give an Hour campaign, many local residents do not realise that Hebden Bridge is home to a very special community organisation DOT-COMmunications, which was set up to help people get online.
A couple of years ago, the charity based at the Salem Community Centre, Central Street, began offering fully installed, internet-ready computer systems to pensioners for only £25, which are among the cheapest in the UK and this offer continues to be available year round.
With Christmas coming, DOT-COMmunications will be providing a range of services to support not just pensioners but anyone looking to get online. On Saturday between 10am and 4pm they will provide access to a wide range of refurbished computers and laptops at low cost and advice. The advice and special offers will continue at the centre, Monday to Friday until Christmas.
