Mr Penson’s form group have taken fundraising in form time to a new level, raising funds for a variety of charities and causes over the last three and half years.
“We have the time, the inclination and the enthusiasm to raise money for different charities that mean a lot personally to us as a group and as individuals, we are in a lucky position of being able to make a difference and support each other’s ideas and efforts in doing so,” said Beatrice Dessent, Rachel Able and Olivia Timms of form 10XA.
“In our form 10XA we have been donating and raising money for varied charities for over three years, and will continue doing so for as long as we can.
“We have raised money for Oxfam, Children in Need, Overgate Hospice, RSPCA, World Wildlife fund, Yorkshire Cancer Trust and also local charities such as The Karen Darke Road to Rio fund, and the local Mountain Rescue group.
“We also contribute food hampers every year to the local Old people’s home and contribute to goodie boxes to send to the Rotary shoebox appeal.”
By having frequent bake sales, lemonade stalls, and gingerbread men sales as well as the individual donations from the form group, they have raised around £800 since year 7 and have already raised another £90 this year since September.
“Generosity is a factor incredibly important to everyone in our form and every single person has contributed to the cause. We have also adopted a snow leopard and a hedgehog to join the XA gang.
Mr Penson said: “I am very proud of my form group and know that this experience of helping others because they can is a really strong and admirable quality that I hope they continue with in life.”
