Mytholmroyd Post Office may be relocated in a move that would “create a modern open-plan local-style branch with extended opening hours”.
The proposal by Post Office Ltd would see the business move from its current location on Burnley Road and be incorporated into PJ and J Newsagents across the road.
The Post Office is inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation, which runs until Friday, December 20.
Post Office regional network manager for Central England Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to residents in Mytholmroyd and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
Should the move go ahead, the branch would open Mondays to Fridays from 5.15am to 5.30pm, Saturdays from 5.15am to 12.30pm and Sundays from 7am to 11.30am. This would be 27 hours more than are currently offered.
Mr Wales said: “The proposed changes to the branch are part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.
