Riverside pupils had a great opportunity to try out their bouldering skills at Rockover, Manchester.
Part subsidised by the School Sports Premium, nearly 50 Year 5 and 6 pupils, accompanied by Mrs Scarf, Mrs Goodhart and five parents, experienced a morning learning how to use their bodies to balance and move around several huge bouldering walls.
Coached in small groups, some full of confidence, others a bit more cautious, the children made excellent progress, selecting progressively harder routes around the tiny foot and hand holds. Mrs Scarf, the school’s PE co-ordinator, said: “This was another superb opportunity for our pupils to try a new sport.
“We have selected the best 10 pupils to represent Riverside, at Rockover’s Schools Competition on Wednesday, March 25.
“It’s going to be another exciting day, especially as we have some very keen and talented climbers at Riverside.”
