Brighouse goes Victorian for Christmas

The Brighouse Victorian Christmas Festival is on Saturday and Sunday this weekend with a range of exciting local food, crafts and gifts in offer.

Shops in the own have been transformed with Victorian window displays and staff will be in period costumes to make sure even the biggest Scrooges can’t help but feel a little Christmas joy.

Queen Victoria with Prince Albert will officially open the proceedings at 10am on Saturday morning after having been paraded in a vintage car from the railway station.

A funfair, fairground organ, brass bands, a vintage carriage with shire horses, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, carol singers, a silhouette artist and even an appearance by Santa Claus will keep all ages entertained.re-enactors dressed in period costume…these are just some

On Saturday at the Salvation Army a puppet theatre will be held four times during the day(£2 at the door or book in advance at Harrison Lord).

The highlight of Saturday will be the torch light parade around town prior to the Christmas lights switch on.

Santa will be paraded through town at 4pm in the carriage pulled by shire horses.

The Northern Lights Street Orchestra is an amazing light up band who will entertain as they parade around town.
