It’s Christmas - and when the festive lights shine out in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd this weekend, it’s official!
Get the weekend off to a cracking start tomorrow evening, Friday, November 20, when the Hebden Bridge Lights are switched on in St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge, from 5pm.
The Mayor of Hebden Royd, Coun James Fearon, will do the honours and Hebden Bridge Junior Band and Father Christmas will provide entertainment.
And there is certainly magic in the air a day later in Mytholmroyd on Saturday, November 21.
Royd Regeneration invite you to attend their ever-popular Christmas Market which is taking place between noon and 5.30pm at St Michael’s Church Hall and St Michael’s Square, Mytholmroyd.
The village’s Christmas lights switch-on is at 4.30pm, in conjunction with Hebden Royd Town Council.
“This year there are many new stalls both inside and out - and which are all booked up - , and we hope you enjoy the free mulled wine, free mince pies and free face painting,” said a Royd Regeneration spokesman.
Close-up magician and balloon man Paul Dawson will be there to entertain and Father Christmas will be joining in the festivities mid-afternoon.
There’s hot food in the square, children’s rides (these do carry a charge) and Hebden Bridge Championship Brass Band will be playing during the afternoon.
At 4pm they will accompany Burnley Road Academy Choir in carols and festive music ahead of the lights switch on at 4.30pm.
“We hope you have a great time!” said the spokesman.
