Barber’s beer is a heady brew

The beers have been created by the Halifax Steam Brewing Company in a collaboration with 1920s barbers’ shop Wayne Anthony’s.

They will be unveiled to beer lovers on Sunday, November 29 at a new vintage market launching in Bradford, where Mr Anthony will be demonstrating his legendary Royal shaves.

Then, from January 2016 customers will be able to buy them in bottles at Wayne Anthony’s in Hipperholme, and other barbershops across the UK.

The monthly vintage market is in the BrewHaus and Stein Bierkeller bars which opened recently alongside the famous Alhambra Threatre at the heart of the Bradford’s West End. It goes on from noon to 8pm and is free to get in.

Visitors will be able to get a first taste of the new 4% pale ale Barberlite or Dirty Blonde - a 4.8% golden blonde ale, and Beardie Brew, a 4.8% dark stout, after relaxing in the barber’s chair.

Wayne Anthony said: “Traditional barbershops and craft beer are both very much back on trend right now – and with a fantastic local brewery just round the corner, it seemed like the perfect combination – a barbers’ beer. This is something completely exclusive, being launched here in West Yorkshire and also a lot of fun.

“We then got the opportunity to take the lid off the project, so as to speak, at this brand new event – so the brewers are now pulling out all the stops to get everything ready for Sunday.”
