A musical benefit show organised by Todmorden Bandstand Restoration and Support Society (BRASS) will hit the stage on Saturday, March 12 (doors 7pm for 7.30pm start). It’s at the Fielden Centre, Ewood Lane, Todmorden, and tickets are by way of an £8 donation available from Creative With Nature, Burnley Road, Todmorden, by calling 07890 917460 or at the door on the night - seating is limited, so early booking is advised. Music will be provided by male acapella group 4 Hoarse Men, mixed acapella group Far Cry, mixed acapella group Sailah, kora and voice Koraqueen, roots-acoustic band Jenny and the Goodmen and, to vary the entertainment, juggler Jago JA.
Todmorden based singer and gig organiser, Richard Dyer said: “We are very excited that we’ve managed to pull together such a diverse range of talented performers for the gig. It promises to be a great evening, raising money for a very worthwhile local cause.” Former Mayor of Todmorden and co-ordinator of BRASS, Michel Gill, pictured , added: “This will be the first large fundraising event for the bandstand, which is as iconic to the town as Stoodley Pike or the Town Hall. It’s been on that site since 1914 and for much of the century since, regularly hosting bands for us all to enjoy. BRASS aims to make that happen again as soon as possible, and this event will help bring us a step nearer.”
