Auctioneer becoming a TV favourite

ANTIQUES going under the hammer at the local Calder Valley Auctioneers will be featuring on the popular BBC 2 programme "Flog It", next Monday - for the second time within a month.

And a third programme featuring the local auctioneers is to go out shortly.

Filming for the three programmes took place at Rochdale Town Hall and the Calder Valley Auctioneers premises at Fairlea Mill, Luddenden Foot.

Auctioneer Mr Ian Peace, principal of the business, said he was now becoming used to the cameras - this being the fifth time programme makers have chosen the Calder Valley Auctioneers to appear on.The previous ones were in 2004/5.

“We have a good relationship with the BBC and the programmer makers and we really enjoy it when they come to film.

“It is very pleasing they keep asking to come back.”

Mr Peace set up the business in Luddenden Foot seven years ago.

Monday’s programme goes out at 3.45pm.
