Pupils from Burnley Road Academy, Mytholmroyd will be taking the opportunity to connect with nature and work together as they plant fruit trees in their school grounds during The Tree Council’s 40th National Tree Week (November 29 to December 7).

With the help of a grant from The Tree Council, the lead UK tree campaigning partnership, they will be planting 12 fruit trees including eight apple (Katy, Egremont Russet, James Grieve and Bramley) and four pear trees (Beth and Concorde).

Pupils from the School Council will be planting these trees on Tuesday, December 2, in the school grounds and on the edge of the playing field. They will go back to their classes to explain what types of trees have been planted, how to plant and care for them and when to harvest them.
