Members struggled through the snow to be welcomed by vice-president Mr Robert Huck to the meeting of Hebden Royd Probus Club, at the Community Centre in Mytholmroyd.
Our speaker, Mr Rodney Collinge, gave a very interesting talk, illustrated with slides, on various aspects of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland from the geology of the landscape and early settlements, to Staffa, Fingals Cave and the Puffin colony, writes Geoffrey Greenwood.
Stories of Bonnie Prince Charlie, and of course a visit to a whisky distillery.
He also told of the Stevenson family who built over 200 lighthouses around the coast of Scotland.
The vote of thanks was given by Mr Geoffrey Greenwood.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, February 4 (meet at 10am for a 10.30am talk start) when our speaker will be Mr Roger Benn of Mytholmroyd-based travel agency Whitesands Travel.
Come along for some sunshine, new members and guests are very welcome.
