Fancy a day at the races? On Sunday, there’s one on your doorstep...
For the past few weeks members of Todmorden Lions have been out and about selling thousands of the bright yellow competitors in their annual Duck Race.
This year’s race starts at 2pm on Sunday, May 10, at Central Garage, Stansfield Road, Todmorden.
This year the thousands of yellow plastic ducks will be lowered into the River Calder by CN Trading (Hebden Bridge), making their way along Calderside to the finishing line at Hallroyd Crescent.
These ducksare very competitively priced - they are still pegged at 50p each - and there are prizes to be won.
Snap them up when you see the Lions’ stall - they are sure to be out and about this weekend in the run up to race time, so there is still plenty of chance for you to bag a winner!
Lions have been supporting the community in Todmorden for 36 years now, during which time they have riased well over £100,000 for good causes.
These range from flood relief to helping Todmorden Swimming Club run the annual New Year Swim.
The Duck Race is a major annual fundraiser for Lions.
Lions are in need of new members to carry on their good work in the community.
